HYPHA Distributed Compute for the Real World

Hypha is a distributed compute engine that turns existing hardware — laptops, workstations, servers, mixed CPU and GPU fleets — into a single self-managing processing fabric. It runs alongside the systems already in place (COBOL, Pandas, Spark, Kubernetes, plain Python) and removes the execution friction that makes those systems expensive to scale.

What it Does

  • Distributes work across heterogeneous hardware without operator intervention.
  • Recovers from agent and node failure autonomously — no on-call required to keep a run alive.
  • Runs on-premise. No cloud account, no egress fees, no vendor lock-in.
  • Hardware-agnostic: CPU, GPU, TPU, NPU, and mixed fleets, on Linux or Windows.
  • Augments existing workloads rather than requiring a rewrite.

Verified Results

  • Mainframe-style batch:  100,000,000 bank records processed in 55.9 seconds wall-clock, with zero failed shards and 43.9× effective parallelism on a small fleet.
  • Scientific data at scale:  166,000,000+ records ingested across a 59-hour sustained run with zero crashes and zero manual interventions, on a 2013-era workstation.
  • Legal corpus processing:  1,010,062 court opinions cleaned and sharded across a two-node fleet at 94% sustained CPU and peak RAM under 12 GB.
  • Tabular analytics: 9.5 million rows processed in under 2 seconds at ~190 MB peak memory — roughly 8× lower RAM footprint than the standard Python alternative.

Why it Matters

  • Banks, insurers, government agencies, and healthcare systems still run on COBOL, on-premise pipelines, and air-gapped infrastructure.
  • Most modern distributed frameworks assume a cloud-native rewrite and a large operations team to keep them upright.
  • Hypha assumes neither. It accepts the workload as it is, runs on the iron the customer already owns, and stays running without constant supervision.
